The Punjab government has introduced a major reform in the education sector by making online registration mandatory for all private schools across the province. This move aims to improve transparency, reduce manual interference, and create a more efficient and accountable system for school management. Authorities believe that shifting the entire process to a centralized digital portal will make registration, renewal, and monitoring much easier and fair for all institutions.
Under the new policy, all private schools must now complete their registration and renewal through an official online portal. Schools are also required to clearly declare their fee structure and ensure that at least 10% of admissions are given to underprivileged students, promoting equal access to quality education.
The government has also introduced strict safety and facility requirements. Schools located on main roads must install zebra crossings and proper signboards for student safety. In addition, the installation of security cameras, implementation of anti-dengue SOPs, and proper cleanliness arrangements have been made compulsory.
Furthermore, schools must register on the Punjab Safety App and Green School App. Important documents such as building fitness certificates and hygiene certificates are now essential for registration approval. Franchise schools will also need to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their head offices.
Another key requirement is that schools must provide transport facilities to at least 50% of their students, ensuring convenience and accessibility.
Officials say the main goal of this digital system is to eliminate corruption, reduce favoritism, and bring full transparency into the education system. This step is expected to improve overall education standards and rebuild parents’ trust in private institutions across Punjab.
